Proposed Changes – Skilled Migration Occupation Lists – Effective Jan 2018

Consultation on Skilled Migration Occupation Lists

The Department of Employment is commencing public consultation on potential changes to the skilled migration occupation lists.

The Department of Employment is responsible for undertaking a regular review of the new Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). These occupation lists are used for skilled migration to meet short and medium/long term needs for the Australian economy.

Members of the public and stakeholders are invited to review the Traffic Light Bulletin which shows the proposed changes and provide feedback to the Department.

This Traffic Light Bulletin is for consultation purposes only.

The Department invites stakeholders to provide evidence and feedback in relation to the specific occupations identified for possible change, as well as those flagged for no change.

Development of the Traffic Light Bulletin

There were substantial changes to the skilled migration occupation lists in April and July 2017. Therefore, the Government has prioritised continuity and stability.

For this reason, no changes have been proposed for the medium and long-term strategic skills list at this time.
